Fuzzy Wuzzy Was a Bear is an amusing tongue twister of a nursery rhyme that uses repetition and rhyming couplets to make the ditty appealing. It details the story of Fuzz Wuzzy who was a bear with no hair and the lyrics to the rhyme has been added over time to include the tale of both a worm and a mouse.

No one is absolutely certain where the rhyme originated from, but Rudyard Kipling’s 1892 poem is believed to have been a heavy influence. 

The poem “Fuzzy-Wuzzy” was written by Rudyard Kipling and pays tribute to the Hadendoa people for their bravery and fighting ability. These individuals were known in the 19th century as fuzzy fuzzies due to their unusual hair traditions.  There is no evidence to suggest that the rhyme was definitely inspired by Rudyard Kipling, but the coincidence is believed by many to be too big to disregard.
