Here We Go, Looby Loo, is an English nursery rhyme that is sometimes known as Looby Loo, or Here We Go Loop de Loop. It has a tune that gets stuck in your head and is popular with very young children as well as their parents.
The real origins of this nursery rhyme are not exactly known, but one of the earliest recorded versions dates back to 1745 when it was used as a political song, and again in 1849 when it was published as “Dancing Looby”. The song has been re-recorded by a number of different pop artists as a single.
It’s believed to have been intended as a bath song but evolved to become a dance. Children stand in a circle while dancing in one direction with joined hands as they sing. Later parts of the song mimic Hokey Cokey, moving various body parts according to the lyrics.
Here We Go Looby Loo Lyrics
Here we go looby loo,
Here we go looby light,
Here we go looby loo,
All on a Saturday night.
You put your right hand in.
Your put your right hand out.
You give your hand a shake, shake, shake,
And turn yourself about.
Here we go looby loo,
Here we go looby light,
Here we go looby loo,
All on a Saturday night.
You put your left hand in.
You put your left hand out.
You give your hand a shake, shake, shake,
And turn yourself about.
Here we go looby loo,
Here we go looby light,
Here we go looby loo,
All on a Saturday night.
You put your right foot in.
You put your right foot out.
You give your foot a shake, shake, shake,
And turn yourself about.
Here we go looby loo,
Here we go looby light,
Here we go looby loo,
All on a Saturday night.
You put your left foot in.
You put your left foot out.
You give your foot a shake, shake, shake,
And turn yourself about.
Here we go looby loo,
Here we go looby light,
Here we go looby loo,
All on a Saturday night.
You put your whole self in.
You put your whole self out.
You give your self a shake, shake, shake,
And turn yourself about.
Here we go looby loo,
Here we go looby light,
Here we go looby loo,
All on a Saturday night.
